January means makeover, it’s time to refresh your decor and comfort with beautiful homeware accessories. We talk to Charlotte from The Home That Made Me she shares her top 5 picks to revamp your home this year.
#NEWATMATALAN THE HOME THAT MADE ME TOP 5 HOME PICKS
Many of us will embark on a mission to ditch some lbs (after one too many mince pies over the festive period!), get healthier or to even start a new hobby. A New Year brings about new resolutions which are ultimately designed to better ourselves; so why not widen this to better our homes?
From giving your lounge a new look with cushions & throws to an unloved bedroom some colour with new bedding or even the luxury of brand new super soft towels to hang in your bathroom after a long soak.
Luckily Matalan has us covered with a new collection of homeware which is bound to make your heart flutter.
I’ve been given a task of picking 5 products from the new arrivals section which I can’t wait to get my hands on & are hitting the predicted interior trends of 2017 right on the head.
First up, is the tribal trend which I’m seriously struggling to pick just one item from so I’ve picked one kitchen & one living room option.
Last year saw the rise of exotic interiors making a comeback however this new range focuses more on the aztec print which will feature heavily in 2017.
My first pick is this gorgeous crockery which will make a statement on any table. Think bold statement patterns with pops of colour such as the mustard rims on the cream & grey print. They are just £3.00 for a plate, mug or bowl.
On to the living room where the African influence is carried across. From Aztec cushions & matching throws to this gorgeous elephant emblazed pom pom cushion. Use neutral walls with rich browns or greys combined with pops of colour to create the perfect space.
My second pick is this set of 3 animal wall hooks including an elephant, giraffe & zebra which are not only handy but also a great statement piece.
Moving on from the tribal trend is one that is definitely here to stay. Think feminine blush tones combined with natural elements such as wood or copper for a Scandinavian feel. If pink isn’t your thing then team soft greys with pops of delicate pastel colours such as lilac or turquoise.
My third pick with this look in mind has got to be this floral cushion which would glam up even the simplest bedding sets.
My third choice is actually two items but I think they’d work really well together so I’m cheating a bit & am going to combine them as one pick.
These are the perfect storage solution for any busy family home. A seating bench which doubles up as shoe storage as well as a place to pop gloves/scarfs or even the dogs lead. Stylish yet practical.
Matalan have also come up with a wall hanging unit which would look perfect hung above it for coat storage plus you could pick them both up for a bargain price of £125.00.
Anybody that knows me well will know that I am absolutely obsessed with candle & reed diffusers so of course they had to feature in my top 5 picks. This white diffuser with lemongrass scent not only smells great but looks great too & would make an ideal gift (I won’t judge if you want to keep it for yourself though…).
Scents in the home play such a huge part in creating a mood as well as being practical with covering up unpleasant odours such as pets or cooking. Reed diffusers generally last longer than candles with no flames involved.
Finally, my last choice was one for my children & seeing as we are proud pug owners, it’s an essential item. This cute little 3D pug lunch bag will bring a smile to their faces whilst keeping their lunch cool for nursery. You can also get the matching bottle!
However you decide to bring the new into your home this New Year, make sure to check out Matalan’s new range of products which are bound to inspire.
