Other than the safe arrival of our new little bundle who is due Mothers Day weekend, I would absolutely love some new boots for Spring! Babies are expensive (even with first child hand me downs) so it’s been a while since I’ve treated myself and my shoe size is the only thing that’s stayed the same within the last year! Nice new shoes will be the best incentive to get up and out once he’s here too!
Tan makes a lovely, lighter change from the black I tend to go for in winter and the suede texture adds just the right amount of interest to any outfit
Please describe a special moment with your own mum. Any memories or lessons you have applied to your own children?
I am lucky enough to say I have had endless special moments with my own mama – She is the most amazing woman and if I become half the woman she is I will be so proud of myself, and know I will have done my children proud too. After everything she has done for me (from homework help to being my birth partner!) I do try and give back to her when I can – though I’m not great at it. The first time I ever left Ivy, I took her to a show at London Fashion Week before going to Les Miserable at the theatre and however magic it is to have a grandchild in tow most of the time, I hadn’t realised how much I had missed having her to myself.
What are your essential spring fashion buys for stylish mums?
Banished are baggy jumpers and jeans now the weathers starting to brighten up! Embroidery is absolutely everywhere at the moment and with its cute but statement detailing suiting every size and style it’s going to stick around a while! This shirt is perfect for breastfeeding mamas
Remembering this is Britain and spring weather can vary from Sun to snow, choosing a versatile piece like this denim pinny can get you sorted all occasions. Team with a thin knit tee and trainers for the school run or blouse and heeled boots for that rare girls night. Comfort and cool all in one!
We spend so much time getting the kids in their shoes, let’s make it easy on ourselves! These slip on mules can carry you anywhere and everywhere.
What new baby essentials would you add to your hospital bag?
I need to get to grips with the word ‘essentials’ when it comes to my hospital bag, which is currently bags (plural, oops) and even then I have packed selfishly! But I have certainly got the following for baby boy –
A gorgeous blanket. Not only is this practical for the trip home, it can also become a real every day comfort for your child and one of the real lasting memories for mama of the new born phase.
All the bodysuits! you can never have enough of these cute little body’s especially whilst you’re getting to grips with the outfit layering (and that pesky unpredictable spring temperature again) and of course all the explosive nappies
A ‘going home’ outfit! Although I want this to be completely memorable, I want it to be super comfortable for him to so this soft star romper would be spot on
What is your favourite Mother’s Day memory so far?
My first Mother’s Day will always be my most special. My only wish was for Ivy to be out of hospital following her first open heart surgery and it amazingly came true. It was also the last Mother’s Day we got to spend with my gorgeous Grandma which meant it was the only one spent with all 4 generations. All we did was go for tea and cake in a local garden but that was perfect and it is one of the most treasured days of my whole life.
