At Matalan, we’re proud to have supported Alder Hey Children’s Charity since 2014, raising over £5.1 million thanks to the generosity of our colleagues and customers. Our partnership has helped fund key initiatives, including the development of Alder Hey’s dedicated Research and Innovation Centre, as well as important appeals such as the ‘7 in 10 Children’s Mental Health’ and the Surgical Neonatal Appeal. Since the Institute opened in 2016, over 81,000 children and young people have taken part in research, with more than 200 studies taking place at any one time. We’re currently supporting research led by nurses and Allied Health Professionals, helping to improve care and outcomes for children and young people across the UK.
Meet Caleb
Caleb, the star of our 2024 A/W campaign, turned 2 in April - where does the time go?!
Caleb still visits Alder Hey once a month to have play therapy with an incredible therapist named Lorna. Mum Keeley says that his confidence has grown so much since starting these sessions.
On Caleb being star of the show for last year’s campaign, Keeley said: “It meant the world to us to be involved with last year’s Matalan x Alder Hey campaign, to share Caleb’s story, raise awareness of his conditions and to be a part of the gastric-PICU study.”
