Alina Ghost from Fairytale Pretty Picture is here to offer her expert advice for the perfect Valentines date night at home.

Valentine’s Day provides the perfect excuse to spend time with that special someone. It’s all about being romantic and showing them how much they mean to you. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not because you don’t show them every day how special they are but on Valentines Day, you can go that extra mile.

As Valentine’s Day falls on a weekday this year, a cosy night in seems the best option. To me, this is a great opportunity for a luxurious dinner for two in our very own abode.

Date night at home

Two years after buying a home together and a year since our wedding makes me want to stay at home and cook something romantic. So, my wish-list for the dinner table would therefore be gorgeous plates, candles and iconic hearts for setting the scene. I’m not a girly girl so I prefer to decorate with relaxing blues and fawn beige hues – you’ll notice that Matalan have exactly that.

I love that even the table cover has subtle hearts that completes this evening of love perfectly.

For dessert, it’s all about guilty pleasures. My favourite would be waffles with fruit and cream on top. Who cares if it’s supposed to be for breakfast? It’s your romantic evening so do what you like. Doughnuts as a starter? Why not?

Anyway, for snuggling up and eating our dessert I’ll need dessert plates, a textured thick throw and a heart shaped cutting board centerpiece to make it extra special.

I have a couple of friends who prefer hot chocolate over dessert, so grab a couple of mugs too and you’ll be covered for both options!

I hope you have a fabulous Valentine’s Day night in and enjoy your delicious creations.
