Charity

At Matalan, we believe small actions can create big change. By empowering our colleagues, and inspiring our customers and working closely with partners, we turn everyday moments into opportunities to give back. Together, we’re building stronger communities and making a positive difference where it matters most.

Our 3 Charities Partners

NSPCC

Since our partnership with the NSPCC began in 2004, it’s raised £11.9 million, driven by a shared belief that every childhood is worth fighting for. For more than a decade, support from Matalan’s employees and customers has supported vital services like Childline to ensure that there is always someone there to listen, and Domestic Abuse Recovering Together, to help children and their mum’s recover following domestic violence. Since 2022, we’ve contributed £980,000 helping to 120,000 calls for help at Childline and supporting three trained practitioners at the NSPCC’s Hargreaves Centre over four years, so that children and families get the support they need to help them to recover after abuse.

Alder Hey

Our partnership with Alder Hey Children’s Charity, which started in 2014, has raised just over £6.1 million (to Feb 2026) to fund vital services, research, equipment and facilities – supporting the 450,000 children who are treated at Alder Hey each year. Over the past three years alone, we’ve contributed £1.2m. Our family favourite annual pyjama collection has become renowned in the North West and beyond, with families buying their matching PJs year in year out to show support to this incredible, world-leading children’s hospital.

King's Trust

Our partnership with The King's Trust began in March 2024 and to date, has seen us donate £300,000 from sales of selected women’s packed briefs, to support their work empowering young people.

This type of support has helped travel costs for up to 8,000 isolated young women to attend a one-week King’s Trust course - enabling them to build vital skills and gain valuable work experience. It’s a powerful example of how purpose-led products can create real opportunity.

Pennies

From April 2026, Matalan will introduce the Pennies micro-donation programme across both its Retail and Online checkout journeys. The initiative enables customers to seamlessly add a small voluntary donation at the point of payment, supporting Matalan’s charity partners — Alder Hey Children's Charity and NSPCC. By embedding charitable giving directly into the customer experience, the programme aims to generate meaningful collective impact while strengthening Matalan’s commitment to social responsibility and community support.
