Eyelet Curtain Guide

Step 1: Fit the curtain pole before measuring

Before taking any measurements, ensure a curtain pole is installed, as our eyelet curtains are designed to be used with a pole rather than a track. The pole should have a maximum diameter of 35mm.

If you don’t have a pole fitted yet, follow these placement guidelines:

  • Position the curtain pole approximately 15cm (6 inches) above the top of the window.
  • Extend the pole 15–20cm (6–8 inches) beyond each side of the window frame.

Proper pole positioning ensures your curtains cover the window completely and allows for smooth stacking when opened.

Step 2: Measure the width of your curtain pole

To get the correct curtain size, measure the full width of the curtain pole, not the window itself.

Important:

  • Don't measure between the window edges.
  • Exclude any decorative finials or ball ends from the measurement.

This is your 'pole width' which you’ll use in the next step to select the right curtain panel size.

Step 3: Choose the right curtain width

Our ready-made eyelet curtains come in pairs and are available in three standard panel widths. Use your pole width to determine the correct size below:

• Pole width 35” to 63” (90cm to 160cm) - Choose curtain size (46”) 117cms Width

• Pole width 55” to 87” (140cm to 220cm) - Choose curtain size (66”) 167cms Width

• Pole width 70” to 118” (180cm to 300cm) - Choose curtain size (90”) 229cms Width

This ensures full coverage and the perfect gather when your curtains are closed.

Step 4: Measure and find the right drop (length)

To measure curtain length, start from the top of the curtain pole and measure down to your desired drop:

  • To the window ledge: Measure to the bottom of the ledge and add 5–10cm (2–4 inches).
  • To the radiator: Measure to the top of the radiator and add 5cm (2 inches)/
  • To the floor: Measure to 3cm (1 inch) above the floor for a neat finish and ease of cleaning.

Once you have your drop measurement, select the nearest standard curtain length that is equal to or longer than your measurement.

Tip: If your curtains are slightly too long, they can be easily shortened.

Select the drop length required from our pre-set sizes that is more or equal to your required drop

Note: Choose a drop size equal or longer than the measured required length as our ready-made curtains can be reduced in length at any local clothing alteration to fit your window more accurately if required.

Pencil Pleat Curtain Guide

Step 1: Fit the curtain track or pole before taking measurements

Pencil pleat curtains can be hung from a curtain track or curtain pole. If using a curtain pole then curtain rings are required

If there is no curtain pole or track currently in place, then one should be fitted first and positioned around the following dimensions.

• 15cm (6 inches) above the window top

• 15-20cm (6-8 inches) either side of the window edges

Step 2: Measure the total width of the track or pole

Note:

• Don’t measure between the window edges

• Exclude the decorative finials / ball ends (if using a pole)

Follow these steps to select the right panel size for your window.

Step 3: Use this guide to select which is the best width of curtain to buy

Our curtains come in pairs and are available in 3 pre-set individual panel width sizes

• Pole / track width 35” to 63” (90cm to 160cm) - Choose curtain size (46”) 117cms Width

• Pole / track width 55” to 87” (140cm to 220cm) - Choose curtain size (66”) 167cms Width

• Pole / track width 70” to 118” (180cm to 300cm) Choose curtain size (90”) 229cms Width

Step 4: Select the correct drop (length) of curtain

Last stage is to determine the length / drop required. This depends if you have a pole or track

A) Measuring from a curtain pole

Start the measurement from the bottom of the eye (the small metal ring at the bottom of each curtain ring) to where the curtain should drop to.

B) Measuring from a curtain track

Start the measurement from the top of the track to where the curtain should drop to.

Measure where you would like your curtain to drop to:

1) To window ledge – Measure to the bottom of the window ledge and add 2-4” (5 to 10cm)

2) To radiator - Measure to the top of the radiator and add 2” (5cm)

3) To floor – Measure to 1” (3cm) above the floor to allow for ease of cleaning the floor.

Note: Choose a drop size equal or longer than the measured required length as our ready-made curtains can be reduced in length at any local clothing alteration to fit your window more accurately if required.
