From health to wellness, the benefits of a good night sleep should never be underestimated. With the launch of our new Sleep Shop collection, we asked Emma of @1FiveOne to give us her top tips on everything from choosing the right pillow to optimising the zzzz by creating a calming space to sleep in.
Getting the right pillow for you is crucial for a good night’s sleep. I always make sure I have a soft and squishy pillow, it has to be a feather one for me. I even take one with me when I travel! I always put an extra pillow on a single bed, two extra on a double or king. Pillowcases that match the duvet set go on the extra pillows, they go on top when the bed is made, which means the bed always looks neat and tidy.
Finding the right tog duvet for the time of year is tricky - I like to have a summer duvet and a winter one and swap them around when the seasons change. For size I always go large! It’s better to have a duvet that’s slightly too big, rather than too small. For a spare bed it’s also worth layering with a flat sheet, to give your guests the option of layers, as some people get hot and others get cold when they sleep.
Choosing a high thread count duvet set makes all the difference, it looks great and is incredibly soft to sleep on. Layering is key to adding a touch of luxury to any bedroom. I always have a textured throw on the bottom of the bed, and soft, tactile, cushions. The more textures you can add, the better, but keep them as soft as possible in the bedroom. Sheepskin rugs also work great on the floor, bed, or draped over a chair. Final touches like plant pots, ornaments and photo frames can also add interest and pops of colour, for very little effort or cost.
