Find the perfect fit for their tiny feet here…

When To Buy School Shoes?

Their tiny feet grow all the time, so you may be wondering how should school shoes fit? Well, it’s ideal to shop for their school shoes a few weeks before they’re due to go back. Over the Summer, start looking at the end of July or start of August, to give them plenty of time to get used to the size and fit. Let them parade their new shoes around the house for fun!

Which School Shoes To Get?

Well first you need to check with your child’s school what uniform requirements they have, if any – most schools preferred all black school shoes. From there it’s all preference! Think about if your little ones would be better tying laces or snapping over velco, as well as what they can run around in on the playground!

What To Look For When Buying School Shoes?

Comfort is key! Your tiny tot will be wearing their school shoes all day, walking from your home to chasing their friends on the field. You want them to feel super comfortable, and you also want them to last. When looking for shoes, check to see if they’ll stand the test of time (and the playground).

How To Keep School Shoes Clean?

Most school shoes can be cleaned in the same way, but it’s important to always check beforehand. A damp cloth often does the trick to wipe away any mud or dirt. You can also polish most school shoes to keep them looking brand new and shiny… whether they stay that way for long is another story of course.

What Shoes Should Be Worn For P.E.?

As with everyday school shoes, many uniform policies will have their own preferences for what shoes should be worn for P.E. lessons too. Most schools will favour black trainers or plimsolls, which are often super lightweight and easy to carry. Get your little ones to try them on in store, and race around the garden back home!

How To Get The Right Size For School Shoes?

Here’s a quick and easy way to measure your little one’s feet:

Step 1

Step 1

Get a piece of A4 paper. Get your child to place their foot in the center of the paper ensuring they stand up straight with their feet slightly apart.
Step 2

Step 2

Using a pen or pencil, mark a line where their longest toe is.
Step 3

Step 3

Then mark a line at the longest point of their heel.
Step 4

Step 4

Once your child has stepped off the paper, measure the line between the two lines. This will give you the length of their foot.

Step 5

Compare length against this table to work out your child’s shoe size.
