Staycations are becoming much more popular with Brits and with the gorgeous scenery of the British countryside and the bustling life of our lively cities we can see why. If you’re looking for a break which won’t break the bank but can offer those things which you look for in a holiday abroad then look no further. We’ve looked into the best UK destinations to add some inspiration to your holiday locations for spring summer 18 and with no restrictions on packing you can fill your luggage to the brim.

First things first, packing. Planning what to take can help reduce the stress of going away and if you’re planning for a long road trip in the car or on a train, thinking about the space will help to make things run a lot smoother.

  • • Ensure your little ones have all their entertainment for the journey and make sure their favourite toy isn’t at the bottom of the suitcase

  • • Take coats and warm clothes as our weather is very unpredictable and with no weight restrictions you can afford to be prepared

  • • Swimwear for the lakes and pools our countryside and cities have to offer is a must, you never know when the best sunny days are coming our way!

  • • Packing into a hard shell suitcase will stop clothes from creasing so much and allow heavy items to be placed on top without having to worry about what’s inside

  • • Only pack what you need so all the big non-travel size toiletries need to go!

Now you’re ready for the staycation…

If you’re looking for a cosy and authentic break with scenery that spans for miles the Lake Distract is the place for you. There is no need to travel abroad to get views this good and with lots of walks and tourist points, this is a great family holiday that can be spent in the great outdoors. The weather may not be predictable, but the views certainly make up for it, who knew views like these were right on our doorstep?

The nearby market towns Keswick, Cockermouth, Windermere and Ambleside add streets of restaurants and coffee shops for leisurely afternoon strolls and perfect family lunches. In a picture-perfect location not too far from home, boat trips can also be enjoyed on lake Winderemere and your little ones can learn more about author Beatrix Potter.

Packing for a Lake district trip? Remember the beauty of staycations is no luggage allowance and with unpredictable weather you can pack for every occasion. A Bikini or Swimsuit  may be needed for a dip in one of the many lakes, and coats and waterproofs may be needed for after in case showers occur. Go prepared with lightweight and windproof types as the walking around will keep you warm and you don’t want to carry a big heavy coat!

The hub of the North and filled with fun things to do Manchester is jam packed with activities. Offering lots of free museums, galleries and festivals there is always something going on. And the Sea Life centre is home to 5,000 creatures for your little ones to see.

If you’re looking for the peace within the city, the canals and docks offer places for relaxing and great picnic spots when the weather is good.

Packing for a stay in Manchester means filling your luggage with outfits you can wear from day-night, a top for the park and a jacket to cover in the evening keeps you ready for the Manchester city-dweller lifestyle. This will keep your packing down to a minimum too which means you can bring more entertainment devices and toys for your little ones.

If you have not yet been to the capital it is a one to tick off your bucket list. With new restaurants on every corner, museums round every bend there is just so much to do for you and your family.

London gets a slightly warmer climate than other parts of the UK thanks to being down south, so packing lightweight holiday wear would be your best method of packing. For the adventure seeker water sports are prominent on the sea front and for the ‘rather stay safe and watch’ types Brighton Pier is the perfect look-out point with amusements and fish and chips to keep you busy.
