Dressing for autumn and winter is my favourite time of the year by far. And I always start by building my winter wardrobe around a great coat. This tailored overcoat is an absolute must. The neutral colour will work with pretty much all my winter pieces and at just £50 it’s amazing value. I’ve gone for a dapper look, so I’ve worn it with some dark jeans and a blue cable knit sweater. All finished off with these fuss free, real leather Chelsea boots. I really like the thick sole, they’ll always look smart and are super versatile.
I am loving the latest menswear collection at Matalan. As a busy dad of two young boys, comfort is key for me. So this longline padded puffer jacket and jersey sweater are my hero buys at the moment. The coat is so versatile and could be worn out and about on an evening with some boots and slim fit jeans. But for the daytime, I’ve layered the coat with a mustard jersey sweatshirt to give the outfit some interest. I really like this jumper, the jersey fabric is soft and thick and the quality is really impressive. I’ve finished the look with jeans and boots, my daytime staple. This will be ideal for dashing around after my boys in comfort, as well as style.
As a bigger guy, winter is a bit of a fashion win for me. I find there are far more options available and you can never go wrong with a bit of texture and layering. Lately I’ve been obsessed with Sherpa jackets, it's the style of the season and this one has become my absolute favourite. The autumnal tones, thick cord fabric with textured internal lining and collar make it spot on. Dressed up or down, it’s really a wear anywhere coat, it fits snugly so light layers work best. This cream shirt looks relaxed but is still smart and isn’t too bulky, throw on a turtle neck and some boots (with a cheeky flat cap if you dare) for a more high end finish or a simple jersey hoodie and trainers for a relaxed day to day vibe.
